Software licensing policy
- shortcut: Software licensing
I intended Software licensing policy to cover the licensing policy for releases under the Pin Eight brand. To me, a page titled software licensing would cover more general licensing practices in the free and non-free software development scenes. --Tepples 08:54, 18 December 2010 (MST)
- Okay. I have reverted the request which was contrary to your intentions. (The plural-to-singular still stands.) Also, sorry for not starting the discussion more directly.
Actually, "request" is not quite the right word, as my "x for creation" pages are intended more as notes to myself than requests to you. This also explains "not starting the discussion more directly": in general I will discuss with you on your user talk page if/when I feel something is really important, but at the time I first noted the situation with Software licensing policy I had other things on my mind. - So is software licensing a plausible redirect to EULA? Should hatnotes be added on Software licensing policy and EULA to explain the difference? Eighty5cacao 12:57, 9 January 2012 (MST)
- Or it may be better to make a disambig... Eighty5cacao 12:10, 11 January 2012 (MST)
versus
Neither of us has yet created any redirects that contain vs
(with the period omitted) or versus
(written out in full). Is there any good reason to do so? Eighty5cacao 13:02, 6 May 2011 (MST)
- For some reason, I'm thinking of an arcade system board based on NES architecture or a cable TV network owned by Comcast. Redirects are cheap, but they still take (human) time to make, they still clog Recent Changes, and they tend to multiply: all the synonyms of one side of the comparison times all the synonyms of the other side times what order they're in (A vs. B or B vs. A) times the different spellings of the separator. --Tepples 14:07, 6 May 2011 (MST)
- So I take it that the costs of such redirects outweigh the benefits, but do my already-created redirects look okay? What if, purely hypothetically, we made a bot to assist with the creation of such redirects, with the account appropriately flagged as a bot? Eighty5cacao 16:46, 6 May 2011 (MST)
- Existing redirects are OK to keep. But MediaWiki search should be able to find most of the comparison pages without a bunch more redirects. Or has MediaWiki search been broken for you? --Tepples 09:33, 14 May 2011 (MST)
- I'm not aware of any problem, though I honestly don't remember the last time I used this wiki's search for anything. Eighty5cacao 14:10, 14 May 2011 (MST)
- Just to let you know, the second Wikipedia link in your comment was broken and showed no notification of a deletion log. Did you mean Versus (TV channel)? Eighty5cacao 01:35, 14 May 2011 (MST)
- Fixed. Thanks. --Tepples 09:33, 14 May 2011 (MST)
Clarification of recent edit
In case you didn't see already, this edit is not a reversion of the preceding edit, even though the bytesize deltas cancel to zero. "Redundant" was meant to imply that "misspellings" is already covered by "typos," though that logic doesn't quite hold up. Eighty5cacao 15:36, 3 August 2011 (MST)
