Reliable sourcing (tentative title)
Thank you for this. I just wanted to clarify that I was not being lazy. I did do some searching,* but I didn't manage to figure out which reliable source to use for that particular incident — especially when my mind was already moving on to the question of "does modern Japan have any recorded uses of fire-protection fees?"
*I almost said "googling" but decided against it because (1) I dislike "verbing" and (2) I use other search engines for privacy reasons. Eighty5cacao 12:58, 5 February 2012 (MST)

Disaster Girl notes

- Upon reading more carefully, Ant Cooke would appreciate clarification on why I think the figure on the church wall isn't Jesus. This is a TODO. Eighty5cacao 09:48, 28 August 2012 (MST)
- To explain what was on my mind: The following were my original reasons for not referring to the figure as Jesus.
- Relatively large eyes, in an annoyed squinting position uncommon in real-world depictions of Jesus
- Slit-like(?), widely-spaced nostrils
- Relatively large mouth
- Hair reminds me of at least one of Selkie's parents
- ...and possibly the clothing too
- The problem is that all these can be written off as limitations of pixel art, and the "hair" might be Jesus's crown of thorns. I suppose I need to keep investigating depictions of Jesus... Eighty5cacao 22:22, 29 August 2012 (MST)
- As for the Selkie connection, the best I could do right now is to claim that the church's construction was funded by the evil organization from another WMG. Eighty5cacao 23:33, 7 September 2012 (MST)
WMG 101%
The sample game for mapper 101 (that is, CNROM with the writable port moved down to $6000-$7FFF) is the Famicom version of Momoko 120%. Wikipedia explains the fires and aging as having been caused by an earthquake that broke time. The five levels correspond almost too closely to the levels of Concentration Room: Preschool, Elementary, Junior High, High School, and College (which is Guard in Camp and Lab Tech in Concentration Room). I don't even know what all this means. Is alcohol involved? --Tepples (talk) 03:15, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- Quoting myself: "According to the English Wikipedia, the plot of ... Urusei Yatsura: Lum no Wedding Bell is closest to [phlebotinum]." My "cursory glance" (as worded in earlier revisions) missed the fact that it was specifically an earthquake. I'd still need to figure out how exactly the earthquakes started the fires.
- Regarding alcohol, "No, I'm not suggesting that Momoko and/or Donkey Kong is on [psychoactive] drugs." (If Momoko really were 4 years old at the start of the story, why would she be consuming psychoactive drugs other than possibly caffeine and Ritalin?)
- Finally, as for Concentration Room, sorry for not spending more time playing it. Does the number 101 have any plot relevance to Concentration Room? (I remember the number 101 appearing on a secret spy building in SimCity 2000...) --Eighty5cacao (talk) 04:30, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- Alcohol is a fuel "burned" in vehicles. Alcohol 120% is a program for "burning" CDs. Concentration Room has no 101, just the same level names. --Tepples (talk) 12:59, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- So I guess the next TODO is whether any of the buildings had ethanol- or methanol-fired furnaces, or whether there was alcohol stored in the basements of the buildings for any other reason. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 17:02, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Oscar Wilde
The first page of the Gaming Hell article formerly contained an Oscar Wilde quote, "The whole of Japan is a pure invention..." It has since been replaced with "Just... Stick with me on this."
(TODO ... mention Uncyclopedia?) --Eighty5cacao (talk) 18:56, 6 July 2013 (UTC) (more 06:52, 15 July 2013 (UTC))
- It came from "The Decay of Lying". The sentiment that Japan was invented might have been more believable while Japan had been isolating itself from the 1630s to the 1850s, and it makes the reference to Japan in the third voyage of Gulliver's Travels less of a jaywalk. --Tepples (talk) 14:12, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
Gopher
See this incident involving school janitors and a gopher (#4). (I had already known about this from some trivia book, a while before Cracked.com covered it.) --Eighty5cacao (talk) 19:00, 6 July 2013 (UTC) (+proofread 20:08, 10 October 2015 (UTC))
[dead links redacted] 17:00, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- The Android app in question appears to be an unauthorized use of an emulator as opposed to an original game or newly-developed clone, so it's probably not too interesting for the writing of this WMG. I'm not sure to what extent its developers were aware of this WMG or to what extent they were just translating the title literally. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 06:02, 16 August 2013 (UTC) (+ 20:57, 16 October 2013 (UTC))
- Apparently an official feature-phone followup exists [dead link redacted], but I have no gameplay footage or screenshots at present. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 18:16, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hardcore Gaming 101 now has an article, which does show the feature-phone games. A quick glance shows no substantial plot content, thus nothing that clearly josses my ideas. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 01:30, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
- The article is now available on the new Hardcore Gaming 101. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 01:42, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Batman gadgets
We can safely assume that potassium chloride grenades and jet firehoses don't exist in the world of this game, correct? --Tepples (talk) 19:03, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess not, if only because no firefighting equipment of any kind is visible in the buildings. (It took me a few seconds to realize your post had nothing to do with the second-order fanon about grappling hooks.) --Eighty5cacao (talk) 20:56, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
TCRF
Apparently a TCRF article was created, but it's not about the unused music mentioned on Gaming Hell. ({{todo}}?)
Not at all relevant to the WMG yet; just putting it here because it would be a bit out of context in my other list of website issues --Eighty5cacao (talk) 02:49, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Tinkle Pit
The high-score-name censor of Tinkle Pit mentions Momoko 120%, which was presumably one of the few arcade games that Jaleco developed entirely in-house. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 18:58, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
Nancy
New GUG second-order fanon: Momoko 120% is also a prequel to Chase H.Q.
According to a recently-discovered English-language release, Momoko's official English name is Nancy. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 19:37, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
- TCRF editors claim that this is a prototype, not a released localization, despite a lack of mention in the MAME driver. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 01:10, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
