Concentration what?
One possibility: Concentration Room takes place before Concentration Camp. Once the FLP takes power in the Third Realm from the Sun, it contracts Hombon to keep working on both the truth serum "Pinenut" and the new shit, both of which the FLP considered to be wonder-weapons.
The practical upper limit for a homebrew NES ROM is 524288 bytes with the MMC1 mapper in SUROM configuration, either by modding an Ultima Exodus board from SNROM to SUROM or by using a ReproPak board from retrousb.com. A minigame collection would fit well, though tokumaru on the NESdev board isn't much of a fan of minigames. You aren't planning to take this in the direction of the Professor Layton games, are you? :-) --Tepples 11:47, 19 October 2010 (MST)
- I am actively engaged in graduate studies in a field other than computer science, so I would not have the time to actually develop such a game. I am not familiar with the Professor Layton series beyond non-spoiler descriptions of gameplay casually read on a few gaming websites. My idea was not meant to require SUROM, though my reference to a NROM size limit was rather arbitrary.
- I assumed that you had effectively erased Camp from your fictional universe, on the grounds that it was too offensive an idea to see widespread release. I realize that may not be what you intended, but I personally prefer to see it that way, since it seems awkward to have two Concentration incidents that are so similar. (My proposed Concentration Room 2 is distinguished from the original Concentration Room by the greater ecological impact of the accident.) Eighty5cacao 18:23, 19 October 2010 (MST)
- And I meant SUROM only as the upper bound, and "taking in a direction" in the sense of a design document. As of right now, Concentration Camp isn't canon, but that could change if a sequel softens up the audience, as the proverbial frog hops in through an Overton window into a pot of water that is slowly being heated. (Compare HEIL! HEIL! HEIL! which don't immediately connote Nazism.) But to keep the whole "Concentration" thing going, I was thinking of something around a trial of a drug for attention deficit disorder and somehow working in a WarioWare-style series of rapid-fire shout-out microgames. --Tepples 07:54, 20 October 2010 (MST)
- Concerning the overall direction of the game, what I had in mind is currently in the page's "Gameplay details" box. Your idea sounds good too, though, provided that Concentration Room manages to become a trilogy. (The third game would probably be for a system other than NES, and I'm not sure whose plot idea would come second vs. third.) - More trilogy fodder: the 1st Chefoo Girl Guides Brigade put the "camp" in the Weihsien concentration camp.[ref]Adam Wears, Marina Reimann. "6 Badass Unsung Heroes From History's Darkest Hours". Cracked, 2016-12-22. Accessed 2016-12-23.[/ref] --Tepples (talk) 21:21, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
