Revision as of 23:34, 13 July 2017

I've got massively multi-song mash-ups on the brain. These could become extended demos for songs that sound alike, or just to use with StepMania.

The Look

  1. Prince - U Got the Look (1987)
  2. Roxette - The Look (1989) (lyrical)
  3. Trapt - Headstrong (2002) (musical)
  4. Jordin Sparks - Battlefield (2009) (musical)
  5. Xbox 360 power-on sound
  6. Beyoncé - Halo (2008) (lyrical - Microsoft's Halo and EA's Battlefield are first-person shooter video game series whose name is repeated every two seconds in the chorus.)
  7. Kelly Clarkson - Already Gone (musical; see Songs that sound alike)
  8. Eagles - Already Gone (1974) (lyrical)
  9. Reprise of "Battlefield" leading to Idina Menzel - Let It Go (2013) (musical)

The Drugs

  1. Herbie Hancock - Cantaloupe Island
  2. Marilyn Manson - I Don't Like the Drugs (bass; long shot)
  3. Puff Daddy - It's All About the Benjamins (rock remix) (backing)
  4. Divinyls - Love Is the Drug (lyrics)
  5. Ke$ha - Your Love Is My Drug (lyrics)
  6. Rihanna - We Found Love (melody)
  7. Us3 - Cantaloop (for bookends: on Super Mario Bros. film soundtrack with #4; samples #1)

Born This Way

  1. Swarm - Flame Out
  2. Lionel Richie - All Night Long ("multiple fire rocket launcher" in #1 sounds like "tam bo li de say de moi ya")
  3. Madonna - Express Yourself (middle eight's chord progression resembles that of #2's chorus)
  4. TLC - Waterfalls
  5. Lady Gaga - Born This Way (verses from #4 and chorus from #3)

Need You Now

This would be pieced together from parody versions with lyrics rewritten to form a rock operetta about the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) seeking funding from Congress to continue its signals intelligence effort, despite privacy advocates wanting to put a different kind of SIGINT on the NSA. In 2013, Edward Snowden exposed the NSA as being the eye in the sky. It's too late for the NSA to apologize for the surveillance activity, and it needs the support of Congress now.

  • Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky
  • OneRepublic - Apologize
  • Maino - All the Above
  • MercyMe - I Can Only Imagine
  • Lady Antebellum - Need You Now
  • A Great Big World - Say Something
