They measure their wealth by how much cloth they can hang from their waists. It's not uncommon to see over 30 kg (66 lb) of petticoats on a lesbian, supported by a hoop framework nearly as wide as she is tall.

Most mammals are specialized into two sexes: one to gather and defend resources and one to nurture, and it takes one of each to make a baby. Lesbians have only one sex; any two adults can make a baby. Our scouts believe that lesbians are sequential hermaphrodites, like clownfish, not simultaneous like hamlets. A change in the body, corresponding to human menopause, causes a second puberty of sorts in which testes develop from within the ovaries as they shut down.
In most mammalian species, the Y chromosome has the gene that produces males. It tends to shed genes other than those needed to create maleness. Eventually Y becomes so small that it cannot replicate, and the maleness gene translocates to another chromosome. This has already happened in some species of voles. In lesbians, the parts of the Y chromosome that survive produce only enough maleness to reproduce; the secondary sex characteristics are so weak that the rest of the body could pass for a female human.
To lesbians, men of other races appear as animals, in part due to a man's "tail".
On the other hand, at least one of our scouts doesn't believe in mammalian hermaphroditism. She's under the impression that the situation is like the Slayers Next example in allthetropes:Flock of Wolves: the culture values "feminine" attributes, and a lot of the women are in fact cross-dressing men even from birth.
This name is temporary, just as polis had a temporary name for nearly 12 years while the game world was forming.
