Wii vs. WiiWare
Perhaps the hard distinction between Wii disc games and WiiWare games was intended for the era when consoles shipped with a fairly small HDD or NAND flash memory. Wii disc games could be 4 GB, or more than that with two layers. WiiWare games, by contrast, were limited to about 40 MB because of the 512 MB capacity of Wii NAND and the fact that games stored on SD in Wii Menu 4.x had to be temporarily copied to NAND to run. Compare "Xbox Live Arcade" games for Xbox 360 and "PlayStation minis" games for PlayStation 3, which were also much smaller in data than same-console disc games because of limited storage. In addition, the Wii Shop Channel service has since shut down. --Tepples (talk) 14:28, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
- tcrf:Category:WiiWare games already exists, and I am not disputing whether it should exist. The problem I was originally reporting is that article titles have not been consistently disambiguated; there are articles titled
Mega Man 9 (Wii) but also Toki Tori (WiiWare).
- For the download services on Microsoft or Sony consoles, there appear to be no subcategories, and only the base platform's name is used as a disambiguator. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 15:06, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
- The former was moved to Mega Man 9 (WiiWare). Nothing has changed for Microsoft or Sony platforms; that probably needs further discussion. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 02:48, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
Schedule
For personal reasons, I may not be able to help with these until April 2023, provided TCRF lasts that long. --Tepples (talk) 21:37, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
- Apologies if this page counts as a breaching experiment, but I thought I
specifically said I didn't need or want your help. (Yes, I know that edit summary said "passing these along," as in communicating, but it also applies to directly performing any of the moves or other edits.)
- I should be able to find some reasonable means of contact well before that, within about a year, assuming TCRF's associated forum (jul.rustedlogic.net) is still extant and hasn't imposed draconian registration requirements.
- Only "Page moves" and "Policy discussions" are important. I am no longer maintaining the sections about article content, and "Page moves" should be >95% done assuming no poorly-behaved TCRF user mass-creates articles at inaccurate titles. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 02:20, 25 May 2019 (UTC) (+ 23:39, 26 May 2019 (UTC))
- Don't worry. The reason has nothing to do with you and everything to do with Concentration Room. --Tepples (talk) 18:07, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. I was curious about the timeframe and was about to take it to
email because I assumed the reason was privacy-sensitive. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 04:08, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
ZZT
I have many things to say about ZZT (some of which is determined from examining the recently released source code), including:
- You can type | (the vertical bar) to display the cheat prompt on the title screen.
- Undocumented command-line arguments /T (possibly something to do with sounds or timing) and /R (probably meant to reset the configuration, although this doesn't do anything in version 3.2).
- The name BEST refers to the "Best of ZZT" in the executable, although this is not the actual filename of that world (which is BESTZZT1).
- ZZT contains code for working in forty-column mode, although this video mode is not used in ZZT (it is used in SuperZZT).
- An unrecognized ZZT-OOP command is treated like a #SEND command, with the command name being the name of the target label. If it does not exist, it is an error.
- There is an undocumented #IF ANY command (used in Town of ZZT in the dragons room).
- There are several unused variables and fields (the original variable names have been lost).
- During the game, you can push F to display a (seemingly non-existent) order form.

- It seems you have misunderstood the purpose of this page: I
do not have a no longer have access to my TCRF account and probably never will (ED: and have no interest in regaining access), because I don't entirely agree with certain past enforcement decisions by the administration. The intent is that said administrators will read this page and either make the edits or raise objections. It is not intended to solicit edit requests from the general public. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 04:38, 30 March 2020 (UTC) (+ 04:31, 18 December 2020 (UTC))
- Maybe the TCRF administrators will read this talk page too (I don't have a TCRF account either). --

- If it matters, I'm not trying to stir up drama; I just don't feel like spending time getting involved with one more wiki. The main technical issue is the distribution of registration challenges over IRC, and I'm not sure to what extent the admins would trust me if I showed up as a new user (this includes the jul.rustedlogic.net forum). I'm also concerned that TCRF does not follow Wikipedia's Don't revert due solely to "no consensus" practice, but the details are beyond the scope of this discussion. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 06:38, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
Pachi Com (NES)
The audio files added in tcrf:Special:Diff/863608 make clear what I had overlooked: I had focused too hard on the sounds of the pachinko balls themselves and failed to notice that the relevant beeping was a separate sound. It is also possible that I was using a ROM already hacked or that I had otherwise erred in my use of the hex editor.
Apologies to CaH4e3 for ignoring his previous reply.
TODO for the article: Convert the patched bytes to Game Genie codes. --Eighty5cacao (talk) 08:10, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
