Not being a head of household or an automobile driver, I have little control over what music is played within my earshot.
But there are a few songs that will cause me to turn off the radio.
"Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran is one of them because it evokes painful memories.
- "When your legs don't work" perks up my ear, only for disappointment that it's not a story about overcoming disability.
- The pronunciation of "seventy" with the accent on the final syllable calls to mind an incident I had back in my first year of grade school: I kept saying "fifty" and the teacher kept hearing "fifteen".
- The lyrics remind me of my mortality.
- The chorus sounds too much like "Said I Love You But I Lied" by Michael Bolton.
- The song's title is "Thinking Out Loud". It reminds me of my roommate's habit of putting no effort into distinguishing sentences she expects me to heed from sentences she expects me to disregard.
